On October 9, 2025, BSides Hanoi 2025 – the first international-standard community cybersecurity event ever held in Vietnam – took place on the 2nd floor of the G-Group Building in Hanoi.
The event was organized by Vietnam Security Network JSC (VSEC), in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Association and strategic partners such as VIA, CIO Vietnam, and Chong Lua Dao. It attracted more than 150 cybersecurity experts, researchers, and enthusiasts from both Vietnam and abroad. As BSides Hanoi 2025 – the first of its kind in Vietnam – came to a close, participants from around the world had engaged in over four hours of in-depth discussion, exchanging knowledge and debating openly in a truly community-driven forum where technical expertise met collaborative spirit.
Five Practical, Real-World Perspectives
The event featured five selected presentations, each providing hands-on perspectives that combined technical, legal, and business-financial insights, offering high practical value for both individuals and organizations.
These presentations were chosen from nearly 20 submitted technical papers, carefully reviewed by an independent panel of six experts, reflecting the growing technical capability and professional maturity of Vietnam’s cybersecurity community.
The topics covered a wide range of relevant issues: building AI agents for penetration testing, applying AI in automated security testing, car hacking, and perspectives on AI-targeted attacks. Each talk carried strong practical value, combining deep technical demonstrations with real-world experience and live tool demos – perfectly embodying the BSides global spirit of “By the community, for the community.”

VSEC – A Pioneer in Spreading Cybersecurity Knowledge
According to Mr. Truong Duc Luong, Chairman of VSEC: “For VSEC, organizing BSides Hanoi 2025 is not just a technical activity – it’s part of our mission to spread a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing, values that VSEC has pursued throughout more than 22 years in the cybersecurity field.”
Founded by a group of young information security engineers who believed Vietnamese talent could reach international standards, VSEC’s mission has always been to make Vietnam’s cyberspace safer and more resilient to attacks.
From its origins as Vietnam’s first Cybersecurity Warning Center, VSEC has trained and nurtured many of the country’s earliest generations of cybersecurity professionals. Today, VSEC proudly stands as the first Vietnamese company to achieve CREST International certification – the world’s most recognized cybersecurity standard – and is now trusted by over 1,000 enterprises and organizations both domestically and internationally.

BSides Hanoi 2025 – A Beginning of a Long Journey
With BSides Hanoi 2025, VSEC sees this milestone as the starting point in building a strong, high-quality cybersecurity community in Vietnam. As the organizer, VSEC not only connects generations of professionals but also aims to bridge the gap between veteran experts and young talents who are just entering the field.
Explaining the choice of the BSides model, a VSEC representative shared: “BSides is open, authentic, and truly for the community. The talks are not about showcasing or self-promotion – they put expertise at the center. Speakers conduct their own research, experiments, and present their findings. Meanwhile, participants are encouraged to question, challenge, and debate until the very last minute. We see a natural alignment between BSides’ philosophy and VSEC’s working culture – where everyone builds knowledge together, not just shares it.”
By bringing BSides to Vietnam, VSEC has opened a new stage for the country’s cybersecurity community, while also helping the world recognize Vietnam as an emerging center of cybersecurity talent and innovation.
BSides Hanoi 2025 is not merely an event – it marks a significant step forward, affirming the voice and position of Vietnam’s cybersecurity community on the global stage.
