Pentest stands for Penetration Testing – a form of assessment of an IT system’s security through simulating an actual attack authorized by that organization. Simply put, the goal of Pentest is to try to penetrate the system to discover potential weaknesses from which hackers can exploit, thereby proposing solutions to fix them that eliminate the possibility of future attacks.
PENTEST METHODS
Black box Pentest: This is an assessment from the outside in, provided with no information other than what has been made public. This is the most common type of attack.
Gray box Pentest: Will be provided with partial or limited information about the inside of the system
White box Pentest: Assessment from the inside out, provided comprehensively: With all information about the system/network such as: Network infrastructure, source code, details of IP address, OS, policy…
